FLINDERS ST WOLLONGONG

Flinders St runs north from Smith St to Fairy Creek. Over time, it has been known as The Bulli Rd, Main Rd and is now known as both flinders St and the Princes Higway. Land on either side of the roadway was subdivided in 1878 and was mostly used for residential.  Due to the volume of traffic, various commercial activities have utilised the land including the North Wollongong Hotel [Bode's Hotel, Victoria Hotel], shops, steam flour mill, car yards, and small shops. The first public hospital, Albert Memorial Hospital, was located at the south end.
